About Us

NeuroSound Music Therapy is a multidisciplinary creative arts therapy center that offers music therapy and adapted music lessons in Northern Virginia. Our office is located at 10340 Democracy Lane, Suite 203, Fairfax, VA 22030. Our team is dedicated to empowering individuals in every stage of life through services that promote independence, support development and growth and inspire self-expression through music.

Our Story

NeuroSound Music Therapy was originally founded in 2015 by Kelsi Tafaro as The Creative Arts Therapy Center. We served our community with music therapy services for 7 years and then expanded to provide additional creative art therapies in order to meet the growing need of our clientele. As our company has grown, we have moved into a beautiful clinic space in Fairfax, VA. Our center consists of a large reception area, 6 individual treatment rooms, a small-group therapy room, and a large-group therapy room. We serve a variety of populations in the Northern Virginia area by partnering with many organizations in the community, including schools, nursing homes, mental health facilities, adult day care programs and medical facilities.

WHAT  IS MUSIC THERAPY?

Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a board-certified music therapist. As an established health profession and evidence-based service, music therapy has enhanced the quality of life of individuals of all ages and functioning levels.

Music therapy can be used to improve development, rehabilitate, decrease behavior, motivate and increase participation, enhance memory, increase communication, and as an emotional outlet. Despite popular belief, individuals do not need to have any musical ability in order to benefit from music therapy. The music therapist will design an appropriate and individualized treatment plan based on the individual's musical preferences, needs and treatment goals.
