Dixie Mazur, MT-BC
Staff Music Therapist

About

Dixie is a board-certified music therapist living outside of Winchester, VA. Raised near Knoxville, TN, Dixie moved to Virginia to attend Radford University, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy. After completing coursework to earn her license in K-12 music education, she settled in the northern Virginia area with an opportunity to do music therapy within Fairfax County Public Schools.

Dixie's career started in FCPS, where she completed her internship working with a diverse population of students in grades 9-12. Immediately following her internship, Dixie was offered a job to work with her current school's autism and emotional disability programs, while also teaching K-6 general music. In 2017, Dixie was recognized for her work in special education as FCPS's Outstanding Elementary New Teacher of the year. As passionate as she is about music therapy in the public school system, she has the desire to begin working in private practice to reach more of her local community.

Music therapy has always been a passion of Dixie's. She is excited and motivated to help provide music therapy services and advocate for the profession in her community.
